2016/17 Events

On the 14th of July 2016, KCLMSoc hosted an information session with presentations from fellow committee members of KCLMSoc regarding their personal experiences in King's College London. It was hosted in collaboration with Sunway Education Group, and we had the opportunity to invite Dr Elizabeth Lee for an introductory speech.
On the 27th of August, KCLMSoc hosted a two-day event to welcome freshers' into King's College London and to allow fellow KCLMSoc members and freshers to get to know each other. There were various team building activities, such as the amazing race and the murder mystery, to enable freshers to bond among themselves.
This event was held on the 1st of October, a week after the 2016/17 term commenced. The event directors of KCL MSoc created a series of indoor games for attendees to interact and get to know each other. Following this event, the committees and members headed off to dinner, which was held at Melur, London.
Together with the members of LSE, UCL, QMUL, Imperial College London, City University and SOAS's Malaysian Societies, KCLMsoc went for an awesome day out at Ashridge Estate. It was a truly wonderful opportunity to get to know fellow Malaysians from other universities.
For the second year running, KCLMSoc hosted its annual flagship event on 2nd of December - Underground Sounds! With amazing open mic performances, followed by an open dance floor session, we hope that everyone had a blast. Many thanks to all performers and attendees who came!
During 10th December 2016, KCLMSoc members participated in Nottingham Games, hosted annually by the Nottingham Malaysian Society. The categories in which our members participated in were Scrabble, Basketball, Frisbee, Netball and Badminton. Congratulations to our Participant in the Scrabble category, Janice Cheong, who won the game!
A one-of-a-kind event, the KCLMSoc sub-committees hosted a mini sushi-making session to celebrate the start of Term 2. Hosted on the 30th of January, it was a small but enjoyable event, as everyone took home their respective hand-made Sushis and bonded with each other.
On 1st February 2017, KCLMSoc hosted its annual Chinese New Year Celebration for fellow members. The event was sold out and a delicious eight-course meal was served. Hope everyone had a good time!
During early February, our fellow representatives for KCLMSoc participated in Bath Games 2017 for Basketball. Keep the spirit up boys!
On the 16th of February, hosted by the KCL MSoc sub-committees, KCLMSoc members' knowledge were put to the test as they are asked questions of General Knowledge. The winners of the event were Janice Cheong, Erina Nadzira, Chang Zhui Ning and Lee Zi Sheng, who brought home a bottle of champagne!
KCL MSoc's sub-committee members held a relaxed lunch and "lepak" session for members, in the midst of their hectic schedule. While enjoying one of Malaysian's best local dish - Nasi Lemak, everyone had a good time chatting away about their lives.
KCLMSoc's annual original production was held on the 17th of March 2017, where fellow members of the society performed another Musical piece: Diaspora. It was a memorable event, where cast and crew members enjoyed themselves during the Musical, followed by an afterparty at Tropicana Beach Club.
In conjunction with Imperial College Union Malaysian Society and International Council of Malaysian Scholars and Associates (ICMS), KCL MSoc hosted its second Engagement Session with Sunway Group to enable interested students within the UK to find out about career-related opportunities with Sunway Group, and their upcoming projects. It was an engaging and informative session for the attendees.
KCL MSoc hosted its 3rd Annual General Election on the 24th of March 2017. Congratulations for those who won their respective positions, and thank you for those who came and participated in electing our 2017/18 committee!
For the last social of the academic year, KCLMSoc held a graduation dinner for the graduating class of 2017. It was held at Bella Italia on the Strand where both junior and senior students gathered for food and laughter.
